Along the 1980s South Africa coast, A high speed endurance & surfcrossing boat race dubed Thundercat Racing began. The original boats were little more than lifesaving, single-hull inflatable craft that could only deal with calm waters and mild surf. Over four decades the boats evolved into the faster, lighter, more stable, high performance inflatable Catamaran design we see today.
Takapuna beach in New Zealand is a key stop for the Thundercat racing series and the insperation for the Takacat LX Series in name and sprit.

Getting Aboard Couldn't Be Easier
The open bow design allows for easy boarding on the beach, dock, or in the water. The bow of the Takacat rides high when under way eliminating any water entry except under sever conditions. The Open Transom allows water to flow freely out the back so it will never take on water. We believe it is most user friendly boat and safe to use inflatable on the market!
