The Catamaran Design
Along the 1980s South Africa coast, A high speed endurance & surfcrossing boat race dubbed Thundercat Racing began. The original boats were little more than lifesaving, single-hull inflatable craft that could only deal with calm waters and mild surf. Over four decades the boats evolved into the faster, lighter, more stable, high performance inflatable Catamaran design we see today. Why an Open Bow & Transom?
The open bow design allows for easy boarding on the beach, dock, or in the water making it safer to use. The bow of the Takacat rides high preventing any water entry except under severe conditions. If water was to enter from rain or waves the open transom allows water to flow freely out the back so it will never take on water.
